About Us

At Good Evidence Project, we want to help policy makers understand what evidence they need and empower them to make it an integral part of the policy development process. We believe that truly evidence-based policy making could revolutionize the way governments serve their citizens and save countless dollars wasted on ineffective projects.

We believe the best evidence follows three principles:

  • Evidence shouldn’t be used to retrospectively justify a solution or mark an organisations homework. Instead it can be a powerful tool to shape policy design or an organisations work to maximise impact.
  • All evidence is not created equal. Low-quality evidence can be highly misleading, leading to bad outcomes.
  • Good evidence doesn’t have to mean expensive, months-long projects. It just requires the right skills and a willingness to think outside the box.

However, policy makers face significant challenges in building a knowledge base, including uncertainty of policy direction, limited resources, skills gaps, and a lack of knowledge of what is possible. Our mission is to overcome these issues and make true evidence-based decisions a reality.
